The new beginning of Hajj 2020 amidst social distancing

After the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus, the countries were shut down, and people were asked to stay quarantined. The malls were closed, schools, movie theatres and the pilgrims and shrines. People were asked to maintain social distancing and to avoid travelling or going out to even office. Millions of tickets were cancelled because of the pandemic. And one amongst any was Hajj 2020.

Hajj is a holy pilgrimage of the Muslim community. People go there to offer their prayers. This year even the sacred shrine of Mecca and Medina was also closed for pilgrims to avoid the deadly outbreak. It made people upset, but everyone was already aware of why it was necessary.

The numbers of infected people have drastically decreased now in some of the worse affected regions, and people are returning to their healthy lives, slowly but definitely. And there has been as the announcement that Hajj 2020 has commenced again. People can now back go for Hajj but must follow strict social distancing rules.

Earlier, it used to be a massive crowd. Millions of people come together to offer their prayers and to seek the blessings of mighty Allah. In the current situation of pandemic and strict rules by the government, there is a significant reduction in the number of pilgrims. The government has put several restrictions and checkpoints to cross before entering the shrine.

Only a certain number of pilgrims will be allowed to go for prayer at once. No more than 1000 pilgrims can enter the Kaaba at once. Wearing the mask and maintaining the social distance is mandatory. Before attending the sermon, the pilgrims will have to go through temperature checks to make sure that they are not showing any symptoms of Corona virus.

The blow that came with news is that only people residing in Saudi Arabia can go for Hajj this year as no outsider will be allowed to enter the country. According to the new advisory, pilgrims are not allowed to touch the Kaaba by their hands like earlier to avoid the deadly outbreak at any chance.

The mosque is sanitized daily to keep it clean from any virus contracted by any chance. Also, only the people falling under the age of 20-25 years mostly are allowed to perform Hajj 2020 as they have stronger immunity than older ones. The risk has reduced drastically by these rules followed in the holy shrine under the supervision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia government.

Kudos to the philanthropist Sheikh Umar Farooq Zahoor, who has taken on himself tomake amends and express his gratitude towards the precautionary measures and decision taken by the government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to go for Hajj 2020 in this pandemic of Covid 19. He knows thatit’s not going to be easy for believers but hoping it will be recovered in next year and worshippers all across the globe will unite again on the holy land to perform the Hajj.
